Brief
An update was required for the festival’s identity, moving away from the more playful styles of previous years and also to offer a wider appeal to a broader audience. The design had to suggest the full scope of festival – science, engineering, mathematics and technology and be accessible to local school and members of the public of all ages.
Solution
Science should be fun, so experimenting with everyday household chemicals such as bleaching powder, table salt, disinfectant, lighter fluid and lithium (from a battery) gave us all the inspiration we needed to create a fresh new look for the festival. The conclusion produced a striking rainbow of coloured flames that fed into the colour palette and supporting imagery.
