Pertex – so light, it’ll fly out the door!
Perseverance Mills was founded in 1900 as a cotton weaver, moving into nylon production in the 1950s. The Pertex brand was developed in the 1970s with mountaineer Hamish Hamilton, who surmised that tightly woven fabrics gained much of their water resistance by wicking moisture along the softly spun yarns—a characteristic known as capillary action.
Pertex is one of only a few specialist outdoor fabric companies to have its own brand story. Vivid was trusted to craft the marketing and weave it into the market to capture the hearts and minds of manufacturers, retailers, and consumers alike!
Being at the forefront of the outdoor industry at the time, Pertex was a natural fit due to the overlap with apparel companies we were working with, along with our technical knowledge of the fabrics and the sector.
We created robust brand guidelines and assets for use by all stakeholders. On-product branding was a key priority—and we pioneered the use of heat transfer labels and swing tags on garments to reinforce the ‘proprietary’ brand name of Pertex.
Pertex is now well-established as the Sellotape, the Hoover, the Blu-Tack of the lightweight sports fabric world. We’re proud of that!
