Consortium Drilling partnered with Vivid to help establish its position within a highly competitive global marketplace. Founded in 2021, the business was bidding for multi-million-pound international tenders where credibility and clarity were critical.

While the three founders bring over 100 years of combined deep drilling expertise, the previous online presence did not fully reflect the scale, capability or ambition of the organisation.

Our objective was to create a digital experience that accurately represented Consortium Drilling’s technical strength, while clearly communicating credibility, expertise and trust at every touchpoint.

Brand expression development

While the existing corporate red was strong and recognisable, we identified an opportunity to evolve the colour palette to better support Consortium Drilling’s position within the corporate energy sector. Introducing teal and aquamarine added depth and sophistication to the visual system, while subtly reinforcing the brand’s focus on sustainable energy markets.

Red was retained for key calls to action, ensuring impact and clarity, while the expanded palette gave the brand greater balance, flexibility and visual breathing space.

Capability-based messaging

 

We crafted key messaging centred on specific differentiators: the quietest rig of its kind in the UK; vertically integrated services which are cost-effective and centrally managed; and 100+ years of leadership experience. The messaging needed to be confident and definitive, reflecting the expertise behind the brand.

Sector-wide demonstration of capability

The original website was largely focused on traditional drilling services. Our challenge was to clearly communicate Consortium Drilling’s expertise across eight core markets: geothermal, lithium, underground gas storage, carbon capture and storage, geological disposal facilities, oil and gas, geotechnical, and water.

This involved a complete rethink of the information architecture, alongside the development of dedicated service pages, in-depth case studies and sector-specific content to position Consortium Drilling as specialists across both established and emerging energy sectors.

As we uncovered the full breadth of Consortium Drilling’s capabilities and ambitions, the scope of the project naturally expanded. What began as a website redesign evolved into a fully considered digital brand experience.

We developed a premium WordPress theme to deliver the required level of corporate sophistication, while maintaining an efficient and practical development timeline.

Throughout the project, the client brought a sharp eye for detail and a clear understanding of the standards required for international tendering. This close-working partnership, supported by collaborative content development, helped refine the messaging and ensure Consortium Drilling’s capabilities were communicated with clarity, accuracy and confidence.

Crucially, the website is delivering on its primary objective: establishing credibility with multinational operators and supporting Consortium Drilling’s participation in high-value tenders. The platform continues to support the business as it expands into new sectors, meeting both the original brief and its longer-term strategic goals.
